Halloween Makeup Series: 21st Century Marie Antoinette

Thursday, October 3, 2013

So, hopefully you've read my series on Versailles. *wink wink. nudge nudge* It only seems fitting that my first Halloween makeup look is a pop culture/modern day Marie Antoinette. I had so much fun creating this look and I know you will too! If you do decide to recreate this look, then send me a picture over on twitter or post it below. Happy October! Let the pumpkin spice cookie-eating and coffee-drinking commence.

Let's begin:

More after the jump!!

     the products that I used**

Face:

  1. Pat a makeup primer all over your face.
  2. Apply a thin layer of foundation all over the face and neck to even out skin tone. If possible, select a shade lighter than your natural color.
  3. Conceal any redness or blemishes with concealer.
  4. On the back of your hand, dab on some white face paint. From your hand, brush thin layers all over your face and neck. Do this until the color is gradually built up to your liking. (We aren't going for a clown look so we need just a hint of white.
  5. You can skip this step, but if you want you can add a beauty mark with a black or brown eyeliner. Just make a tiny circle where you want it to go!
  6. Buff on a white or translucent powder.
  7. Apply a bright pink blush in a circular motion on the cheeks. You can bring it to the sides of your face, if you want, but be sure to keep it concentrated on the center of your cheeks.

Eyes:

  1. Apply a primer from your lash line to brows as well as underneath the lower lashes.
  2. Pat on a deep, but bright, pink color only on your lids. Don't be afraid to get messy and use a heavier hand...we'll blend it out in just a second. Also, I used a creme blush instead of a powder.
  3. Take a slightly lighter shade of pink and blend it from your lid and into the socket line, winging it out ever so slightly at the corners. Be sure this is well blended!
  4. With an even lighter shade, blend a pale pink until it hits just below your brow bone.
  5. With a dark plum shadow (Sephora shadow in No. 35), create a sideways triangle on the outer corner and blend well.
  6. If you want, take a pink/gold pigment and pat that all over your upper lids for a bit of sparkle. (MAC Reflects Very Pink glitter pigment)
  7. On the lower lashes, take the first deep pink color and line the lower lashes.
  8. Line your waterline with a nude or white eyeliner to make your eyes appear bigger and more doll-like.
  9. Curl your lashes and apply a lot of mascara. On the bottom lashes, apply a few layers to get a spidery effect
  10. Apply some doll falsies on your upper lashes.
  11. Repeat on you other eye...unless you only have one eye. If you only have one eye then that's cool. I don't judge. What happened to your other eye though?
Brows:
  1. Take the handle (the part that you hold) of any eyeshadow brush and line it with the top of your eyebrows. With a brow pencil, trace a faint line, using the brush handle as a guide. Create two lines so you have a nice arch. Do this on both top and bottom.
  2. Lightly fill in your brows with an eyeshadow, brow shadow, or pencil.
  3. Brush through your brows with a spoolie so everything will blend in nicely.
  4. Put some more white face paint on the back of your hand before rubbing the spoolie in the color. Get quite a bit on the brush. Now Comb through your brows to give them a hint of white and to lighten them.

Lips:

  1. Line your lips with a nude lip pencil. Follow your natural lip line at first, then extend it ever so slightly.
  2. Purse your lips together tightly and dab on a fuchsia color with your finger. This will give your lips a creepy, crackly look.
  3. In the center of your lips, apply a matte berry shade to create an ombré effect.
  4. Blend the two colors together with your fingers and, if needed, re-apply the two colors as you go.
  5. Make a kissy face. Dab the sparkly pink pigment (or any sparkly color) onto the center of your lips.

Now go kill 'em tiger.

Toodles.
